Doodles Move to Flow For Mass Adoption!

It’s been a year – and a couple of months – since we got to know and love Doodles. As we are seeing with projects like Azuki’s Hilumia, Yuga’s Dookey Dash, and Genuine Undead’s web 2.5 Governance guidelines, 2023 is all about innovation. On January 25, 2023, Doodles took the NFT community by a pastel storm with their announcement. Long story short, Doodles will go down in history as the first NFT bluechip collection to start on Ethereum and move to Flow. It sounds very dramatic and all, but the team is visionary. There is a master plan for a multi-chain existence of the Doodles universe. That’s why Doodles’ move to Flow makes so much sense. Let’s dive right into the details!

Why is Doodles Moving to Flow?

Created by Evan Keast (Tulip), Scott Martin (Burnt Toast), and Jordan Castro (Poopie), the Doodles PFP Collection alone managed to paint our hearts a joyous pastel for over a year. Expanding the doodles universe is probably something we were all hopelessly dreaming of, and now it’s happening! This expansion can only happen if Doodles move to the Flow blockchain, because of its nonexistent gas fees and interoperability.

    Doodles vision

The vision behind Doodles’ move to Flow is bringing Doodles “out of the box” by bridging physical and digital in new experiences. At its core Doodles were designed as digital identities- a whimsical expression of ourselves, and how we perceive ourselves. This identity is something we want to take with us everywhere, for example across all our social media platforms. This is where the idea of taking Doodles across chains originates from. Another important inspiration for Doodles is our human need for personalization and customization. That’s why Doodles 2 will launch as a series of collectibles that can have various wearables like apparel, accessories, gadgets, and more.

    Flow Coincides with Doodles Vision

They are taking the concept of a PFP to another dimension, where it can be as flexible and interchanging as our daily emotions and moods. As we’ve seen with Valhalla, they tried this customization aspect with their rollover feature, and everyone was hyped. However, it came at the cost of burning tokens, being a one-time thing, and paying money. Doodles want to provide this customization with the minimum fees possible, even zero gas fees. As there should be no price tag on changing how we feel, right? To have this feature accessible everywhere anywhere, Doodles found the ideal partnership with Flow’s blockchain.

FLow’s powerful composability makes the Doodles portable and interoperable across social platforms, gaming worlds, live events, streaming content, retail activations, and other planned imaginative moments.

“As we open Doodles up to the world, we know we can rely on an architecture that was built to scale from day one. Flow offers an easy onboarding to Doodles for newcomers to NFTs and web3, from seamless checkout experiences to world-class security, safety, and recoverability of their Doodles.” said CEO Julian Holguin in an announcement with Flow.

    Introducing Doodles 2

If I want to sum up Doodles 2 in a phrase, it’s the checkmate move. This is the most daring step an NFT blue chip made in appealing to the masses of NFT cynics. What other way can we convince the skeptic with NFTs than the mystical pastel world of Doodles?

    Doodles 2 Concept

The first step of Doodles 2 is a virtual merchandise collection “Doodle 2 Wearables” available on the Gaia Marketplace. There is no announcement yet if this said merch would be available in physical life. So, it’s only for your virtual Doodle avatar. Part of why Doodles moved to the Flow blockchain, is to make these wearables customizable on your doodle avatar.

“We’ve productized the community’s desire to customize their Doodles so that it matches their IRL vibe exactly,” said Doodles’ head of product and co-founder Jordan Castro. “Tech aside, Doodles 2 is the passport that’s used in all of our products – experiences, games, apps, music, animation releases, to bring further personalization, customization, and rewards to our fans.”

“The Doodles 2 mission is to make our digital identity and the style of Burnt Toast accessible to everybody. Over the last year and a half, we’ve learned that some of the best retaining tools are community, attractive art, self-expression, and personalization,” Castro said to nft now in an exclusive interview.

    Doodle 2 Phases

    1- NFT collections on OpenSea:
Doodles’ move to flow requires a link with Ethereum’s blockchain. That’s why two utility NFT collections were released on OpenSea.

    • Dooplicator NFTs
      Release Date: May 12, 2022
      Floor Price: 0.42 ETH
      Trade Volume: 13,004 ETH
    • Genesis Box NFTs
      Release Date: June 30, 2022
      Floor Price: 0.18 ETH
      Trade Volume: 2,982 ETH

2- Activate Dooplicator NFTs on January 31, 2023:

The first step in the Doodles 2 product experience will be by activating the Dooplicators. Holding a dooplicator NFT in your wallet will mint the first Doodles 2 wearables. These wearables will be available on Flow Blockchain and Gaia Marketplace. It already happened yesterday and people are loving it!

3- Activate Genesis Box in February 2023

Genesis Boxes will mint the second set of Doodles 2 wearables. Each set of wearables will unlock a “Doodles 2 Beta Pass” for future use, which will be needed to participate in the “Create Your Own Doodle” tool’s beta launch. Pranksy is already all over the place with Doodles 2!

How to Get the Doodles 2 Experience?

Cool, so Dooplication is the bridge between Ethereum and Doodles’ move to Flow. But, if dooplicator NFTs only work on original Doodles PFPs, how can a non-doodle NFT holder be part of doodle 2? Easy.

    • You can buy dooplication rights of someone else’s doodle on the doopmarket!
    • You can even purchase Doodle 2 wearables on the Gaia Marketplace without having to own a dooplicator or any doodles NFT.

Doodles’ Move to Flow is an Innovation for NFTs

Doodles move to Flow is the first step of innovation and utilization of NFTs’ true potential. Long story short, Doodles 2 will paint web2, web3, and our souls with whimsical pastels. Probably some questions are still lurking in your mind:

Is this collection of virtual wearables what Doodles have to offer to NFT cynics? Are they really trying to garner mass adoption by clothes no one can wear?

Let me answer you in CEO Julian Holguin’s own words:

“As we grow our brand across other verticals like animation and music, Flow’s accessible and seamless onboarding experience enables us to capture audiences that are introduced through traditional media channels. We believe the combination of Ethereum and Flow is the ideal format to support and invest in our core Web3 community while opening the gates to welcome new collectors.”

So, Doodles 2 wearables are only the first step in the Doodles’ takeover of the world.  Doodles’ move to Flow, acquisition of Golden Wolf Studios, and choosing Pharell Williams as their chief Brand Officer is not meant to be contained in the NFT community alone. This is a vision for one day when we say “Doodles” it will hit as hard as saying “Disney”.
