There’s always this one pair that stands out whenever you think of awesome kicks. Although the list is long, we can’t help but notice a really cool presence there! That’s why, today, our throwback will take us just 3 years back. Back to when “The Ten” collection ruled the industry. Today we’re getting to know the amazing Off White Jordan 1 Chicago all over again!
Virgil Abloh and “The Ten”
Virgil Abloh is a designer, entrepreneur, DJ, and streetwear icon. Talk about multi-tasking. He and Kanye West made high-end streetwear as we know it! Finally, he became the artistic director at Louis Vuitton. However, his streetwear brand Off-White, which he founded in 2013, appeared on the sneakerhead radar when he collaborated with Nike.
His vision was to basically deconstruct and reconstruct 10 different Nike silhouettes. And the simplicity of the idea is at the same time the genius behind it! “The Ten” pack consisted of the following silhouettes: Air Max 90, VaporMax, Air Presto, Blazer, Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1, Hyperdunk 2017, Zoom Vaporfly, Converse Chuck Taylor, and Air Max 97. Although all the kicks were a success, the Off White Jordan 1 Chicago sent sneakerheads into a frenzy!
Off White Jordan 1 Chicago: What’s The Secret?
There are many reasons for the success of this specific design. First of all, the Air Jordan 1 silhouette is one of the most successful silhouettes ever. Secondly, The Chicago colorway is one of the Jordan Brand bestsellers. In fact, Michael Jordan’s own pair sold for $560k in an auction recently! And lastly, the design itself was innovative and awesome.
The kicks feature the Chicago OG colorway with additional blue and orange stitching and some of Virgil’s most famous signature touches. The midsole featured the word “Air” between quotation marks. Another bit is the printed Nike Address on the side panel. The most interesting bit though is the zip tie that you can keep or remove.
How Much Is It Worth on Resale Platforms?
Because the Off White Jordan 1 Chicago was such a success, it naturally sold out immediately. The kicks resale value also skyrocketed like crazy! The kicks dropped on September 9, 2020, for a retail price of $190. The resale value between Sep. 2017 and Sep. 2018 averaged at around $2,000. However, it exponentially grew to reach an average of $3,836 today. The highest resale value is currently at $4,977! Who knows, Jordan and Off-White don’t restock the Off White Jordan 1 Chicago, it might go over $5,000 soon.
