New Thursday, new TBT. You guys already secretly know that our favorite throwbacks are always Air Jordans. And add to that, our most favorite TBTs are to sneakers with a cool story. That’s why this week we chose to go back to 2015, to one awesome popping release: The Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard.
Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard: A Good Old Italian Tale
First’s things first. What is the back story of this backboard shoe? If you’re a true MJ fan, you don’t need no reminder. And if you aren’t, the name “Shattered Backboard” should simply do the job. We can’t really blame you, though. This story is rarely told. But there’s a first time for everything. And ANB is gonna handle this for you.
Back in 1985, Michael Jordan played in an exhibition game in Italy. He scored 30 points and then absolutely crushed a backboard in a one-handed jam. No, it wasn’t an NBA game. But it still was a moment of history, and thus, this beloved good old Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard.
So, why these colors?
Obviously, this 2015 Shattered Backboard is a homage to Jordan’s unforgettable dunk in Italy. As for the colors on the shoe, they are inspired by the uniform he wore to the game that day. This one of a kind first signature shoe resulted in pops of orange against a black and white color combination. It’s crafted with perfect premium leather all around.
The classic perforated toe box is dyed in orange, as well as the heel and the outsole. Black colors the Swoosh, mudguard, eye stays, tongue, and laces of this AJ. The quarter leather part and midsole contrast the black and orange in a Sail hue.
More on Them Looks
Branding hits the black tongues in a white tag and an orange “Nike Air” text, and a black “Air Jordan” Wings logo on the side. Topping off the design are the lovely insoles of the shoe. Eye-catching graphics reference MJ’s Airness, a glass-shattering backboard, that will always remind us of this legendary moment.
Way More than a Success Drop
This shoe dropped on June 27, in the year 2015 for a retail price of $160 in very limited quantities. And that probably explains the sick resale price of this shoe, today. Just imagine what that W has profited for the ones who grabbed it back then. But don’t worry fam, you’ll get your chance soon with the next one.
A Shattered Backboard is Coming Back Soon
The Air Jordan 1 High “Black Toe Shattered Backboard” is set to drop in July. And we urge you to cop it, fam! Even the 2018’s Women exclusive Air Jordan 1 Satin Shattered Backboard made a huge reselling success with a $670 current resale price. So, can you imagine the results with this one?
You still got some time to practice your copping game. But you won’t do without the best bot out there, you know that very well. So, make sure you get yourself a copy of this bot, and perhaps a few proxies and servers for a chance to cop multiples. Odds are you’ll be making thousands out of this Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard in just a few years’ time. Fingers crossed for you, peeps!
