The metaverse is no longer a passing trend, and popular sports brands are not shy when it comes to seizing it. Moreover, it seems as though every brand is making – or preparing to make – a leap into the realm of virtual goods. Nike, Puma, New Balance and many more are buying into the web3 craze. So, how is the Adidas metaverse experience going?
Back in December 2021, Adidas partnered with the iconic Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics, and crypto enthusiast GMoney to bring the “Into The Metaverse” collection on the Ethereum blockchain. The minting price was 0.2 ETH or $255. To emphasize, the Adidas metaverse venture reaped in more than $22 million in sales in the span of one afternoon. Crazy right? Today, the Adidas “Into The Metaverse” collection sits at a floor price of 0.595 ETH or $757 according to OpenSea. Additionally, according to CoinGecko, the 24h exchange volume amounts to about $27,565. A plain indicator of people’s satisfaction despite the bear market.
Adidas Metaverse NFT: Introduction & Roadmap
The collection featured 2 Adidas Originals NFT sealed capsules. In phase 1, the content of each capsule was a total mystery! Naturally, people were starstruck by this legendary drop. In detail, all 29,620 Adidas NFTs sold out within a matter of hours of going on sale. Insane! Moreover, the company held onto 380 units for future events.
Initially, the company offered 20,000 of the Adidas metaverse NFTs in early whitelist access to people who own special Adidas Originals tokens, GMoney tokens, Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs, and Pixel Vault NFTs — making the NFT available first to a very limited set of people.
We are currently in phase 2 “Unbox The Impossible”. On the Adidas Metaverse journey, each capsule is now revealed! And people claiming their products digitally!
Phase 3 is to be revealed upon the closing of the product claim window (The evening of November 16), and phase 4 is still unrevealed to this day. However, circulating rumors mention the possibility of a ERC-721 token with rarity tools. We can’t wait!
The full plan is still kept under wraps to this day, but we do have some insight. In December 2021, Adidas entered the metaverse and promised a new age of originality. Moreover, in 2022, on the company’s 50th birthday, they’re dreaming big. Adidas Metaverse promises to bring together its credibility in sports (Might this be a hint to a web3 sports game?) and partners in the fashion industry with groundbreaking collaborations.

“Into The Metaverse” Conclusion:
The Adidas Metaverse now brings together over 50K ambitious members on Discord. However, this is not Adidas’ first rodeo in the web3!
